Family Psychological Services treats anxiety by helping clients understand both the symptoms they experience and the life situations that may be intensifying them. Treatment typically begins with an assessment of worries, avoidance patterns, physical symptoms, family stressors, and personal goals. From there, our clinicians develop an individualized treatment plan that may include cognitive behavioral therapy, exposure-based strategies, mindfulness, relaxation training, and acceptance-based coping skills. These approaches help clients identify anxious thoughts, challenge unhelpful beliefs, gradually face feared situations, and build confidence in daily life.
For children and adolescents, treatment may focus on emotional regulation, school-related fears, separation anxiety, or social confidence. For adults, therapy may address generalized worry, panic, phobias, health anxiety, or stress connected to major life transitions. The overall goal is not simply to eliminate discomfort, but to help clients respond to anxiety with greater flexibility, resilience, and self-compassion.

All staff have taken specialized training in Acceptance Commitment Therapy, an advanced form of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Some staff are trained in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP).

Gilah Weissman and Oleg Mironchenko offer both well-established and cutting edge medication management for anxiety. They keep up on the latest developments in med management to offer you the best fit treatment for your symptoms.
