Jacob draws from a foundation in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy while taking an eclectic, flexible approach that recognizes therapy is not one-size-fits-all. He also incorporates Somatic Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Solution-Focused Therapy to meet each client with care that fits their needs and goals. Jacob has a particular interest in trauma-focused work, including childhood and sexual trauma. His areas of focus also include OCD, depression, ADHD, and couples therapy. He accepts KanCare for teens, and BCBS, Aetna, and Ambetter for teens and adults.
Before pursuing a career in counseling, Jacob served as a music therapist within the juvenile prison system and worked as a case manager in family services, experiences that helped him connect with people from many different backgrounds and life circumstances. He also served as Office Manager at Family Psychological Services before becoming a provider in the office, giving him a deeper understanding of the many behind-the-scenes supports that help clients feel welcomed, informed, and cared for throughout the therapeutic process.
Jacob believes people are shaped by both who they are and what they have been through. In therapy, he works to understand each client’s story while creating a steady, supportive space where change can feel possible. He helps clients name the challenges they are facing, explore realistic next steps, and build changes that fit their own lives. Jacob values the courage it takes to begin therapy and sees growth as something that can happen at a pace that feels manageable and meaningful.
